Council Meeting 2018

This year the council meeting of the EMYC will take place in Prague 🇨🇿 and is hosted by AMM (Alliance of Methodist Youth in Czech Republic). Those of us involved in organising the meeting are looking forward to greeting you in Prague and hope that the meeting will be an exciting time and leave a lasting impression on you. With this invitation we also have the request that you register for the council meeting as soon as possible. Note, you do not need to have booked your travel to register.

Country reports

Short country reports. We would ask the following countries to prepare a 5 minute presentation about their country: Lithuania, Italy, Bulgaria, Great Britain and Slovakia. This year we will use a format called speed geeking. It works like this: the five presenting countries are arranged in a large circle along the edge of the room. Everybody else stands at the center. The facilitator rings a bell to start proceedings. Once proceedings start, groups are formed and each group goes to one of the presenters. Presenters have a short duration, around 5 minutes, to give their presentation and answer questions. At the end of the five minutes, the facilitator rings a bell. At this point, each group moves over to the presenter to their right and the timer starts once more. The session ends when every group has attended all the presentations.

Long country reports. We would ask the following countries to prepare for 28th September a more detailed report of approximately 15 minutes: Czech Republic and Serbia.

The main focus of the country reports should be:

  1. What is your key focus in your children and youth work?

  2. What is your vision in your children and youth work?

  3. Stories, examples, issues and challenges around the different generations doing church together (intergenerational ministry)
